The Lonely Starfish
I went to the sky
And there was a starfish
We did not belong there
Instead of the ground
He favored the screw
The heavens and their brutal blue
Am I so alone
That all you see in my eyes
Is the starfish
Where once I saw stars
I now see squid
Where once my master spoke to me
Now he is silent silent
Banishing me from his kingdom
With a sweep of an orange finger
Lovely, lovely
That you are to me
But my master’s face
Sullen and purple
In repose
As he speaks to me
A face
As round
As the moon
